Works as it States March 8, 2010 K. Kane (Sioux Falls) Helped my seedlings pop up about 7 days ealier than expected. maintains a constant temp.
Incredible Item March 4, 2010 M. Metzler (PA) This is my first experience with a heat mat, but I can tell you it works-- and it works very well. So far this winter we have planted multiple varieties of tomato, peppers, hibiscus, black eyed susans, marigolds, and others. Everything has germinated well, even in a cool room, and has germinated SUPER FAST. We use the Burpee 36-cell trays with the clear dome. On the seed packets it says about 7 days for tomatoes, and about 21 days for the hibiscus. Well, some of the tomato varieties sprouted in as little as 36-48 HOURS, with all of them sprouting within 5 days, and the hibiscus spouted in 3-5 days.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to germinate their vegetable gardens or spring flowers indoors to get a jump on their plants. The only downfall is that they germinate so fast, you need to keep an eye on them to prevent them from getting leggy. Not this product's fault by any means. Just make sure you have your lights setup, because you are going to need them very quickly-- possibly within 2-3 days depending on what you are planting.
works well, decent price, small February 20, 2010 K. Tharp (Dallas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product works well, and I have had no trouble with it getting warmer than I want. I didn't get a thermostat for mine, and so far I haven't felt I needed one. I am starting my seeds in school milk cartons with the tops cut off (since I am a teacher, I have access to a limitless supply), so, I think that probably helps a bit since they are a little deeper than a seed starting tray. I'd have liked to get a bigger one, but couldn't justify spending the money.
EXCELLENT Results! I couldn't be pleased. Seeds are Sprouting. February 17, 2010 Bold Consumer (Oklahoma City, OK USA) I have an amazingly good return (sprout rate) on the seeds I planted using this seedling heat mat. What a great idea!
This makes growing from seeds so easy.
I've learned that it helps to soak the seeds in water for 24 hours or so, or follow the instructions on the packet if they have instructions.
Then just sprinkle the dirt over them and provide the right amount of heat. The seeds don't need nutrition at this point, but they do need warm temperatures.
I love this product!

Can't give a proper review until the end of March, when I plant my seeds.
