Product Description Composts lawn clippings, brown leaves, and hard to compost items such as wood chips, pine cones, and twigs. 2 lb. box converts 500 to 750 lb. of yard debris to mulch. Contains a proprietary blend of microorganisms with specially designed nutrient sources
Amazon.com Review This all-purpose activator kick-starts the compost process with essential organisms and nutrients that efficiently break down organic material. Transform common yard waste--such as lawn clippings, dead leaves, pine needles, and twigs--into compost within 60 to 90 days. Use the rich humus that results as fertilizer or mulch, or double dig into a vegetable or flower bed for an exceptional soil amendment. This two-pound box contains enough activator for several batches of compost. --Mary Park

quicker compost September 6, 2010 Cara This really did make a difference in the time it took my compost to break down. I think it is a good value and a nice way to get things moving along in the compost pile~
Great starter May 14, 2010 Charles Osborne (Martinsville, Virginia United States) For some reason, my garden soil does not contain the thermophilic bacteria necessary to start a compost pile. This product is the solution. Mix brown stuff like leaves and green stuff like grass in a 2:1 ratio and use this for bacteria, water well and you will have a hot pile in two days!
Watch the box for leaks February 6, 2010 Ronnie Bincer (COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, US) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
Watch out for the product leaking a bit in the box. Ours came with one side of the product box "unglued a bit" which let the product leak out into the Outer shipping box. Didn't loose too much, but was slightly disappointed that the product leaked out in shipping.
We are new to the details of composting so I was hoping this was something I could sprinkle on top of the current "pile" in order to help it speed up the decomposition. My wife (chief composter) says the instructions say the product needs to be on the bottom. I'm not sure if it still wouldn't work if added mid pile, but then again I'm not the "Chief Composter" so we may never know.
It appears that the product requires you to start your compost pile over (if you already started one, because it is supposed to be on "the bottom layer")
Product worked OK. September 10, 2009 D. Lehr 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Worked OK.Come have used soil as a starter which would have done the same thing.
Who knows? October 30, 2008 Marc (Santa Fe, NM) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
It's hard to tell if anything other than the natural process of decomposition is taking place especially since the ingredients are not listed.
